Cool Got a good one.

I have a very interesting problem that is starting to pop up. Wonder if anyone has dealt with anything similar. On warm/hot days turning the steering wheel all the way left or right causes the horn to come on. I'm not sure why and I haven't yet started the task of pulling the column apart. Just throwing it out there.

The horn wire "clockspring" which is supposed to provide the necessary movement when you rotate the wheel is shorting out which causes the horn to blow. Here is a good article:

I was familiar with all that, replaced one on a Chevy TB before, but I had never seen that article. That is a good article. Thanks.

Cool Follow up

OK, clockspring didn't do the trick. Now chasing electrical gremlins. Probably a nicked wire lower in the column. It's gonna take a little more effort on my back, laying on the floor, looking up.......

Cool End Result

After several hours of wire tracing it comes down to the airbag. Something in the airbag associated with the horn pad is prematurely shorting out. SUX! Good thing used airbags ore about $150. New airbags are over $1000.
