Your Tips for Better MPG?

RE: Your Tips for Better MPG?
I keep my 33" BFG AT KO tires at 50 PSI. When I am behaving I get a little less than 400 milesper tank. Then my friend told me that I should take the cover off of my air filter box because I have the cool K&N filter. He told me that if I took it off I would have more power.
Problem is that it seems to have a burst of power when that interesting sound comes out from under the hood. Now that I havebeen enjoying myselfwitha faster acceleration I have lowereddown to about 350 milesper tank.
I just have to avoid temptation.
I'm thinking about getting a cat back exhaust. I heard that they sound great and add a bit more power too.

RE: Your Tips for Better MPG?
my tip... from experience....
interstate driving: From tampa to ft lauderdale
cruise at 70mph- took a tank and a quarter (approx) to get there.
cruise at 60mph on the way back- had a quarter of a tank left over..
on the way there.. had empty trailer... way back had a motorcycle on trailer.
significant difference in different interstate speeds.

When you take the air filter boxlid off you unknowingly do a trade. Yes you get more air, but it is warmer (except right after start up, and possibly in the winter). End result of more warmer air is nothing.
Cooler air makes a denser charge = more efficiency.
I run Mobil 1 5W-30, just like the manual says? Yep, I am boring. [&o]
