RE: WOW...what a MPG improvement!!!!
I have to say something is definately wrong if your only getting 8.8 mpg in an h3 on all highway driving and 197 miles to the tank. A bigger heaver bigger engine h2 gets 13 mpg on the highway and come stock with 35 tires.

Have you calibrated your speedometer/odometer for the larger tires? Thats gonna through it off if you are trying to calculate MPG's.

I get 15.85 in daily driving in my 2006 H3. On the freeway at 75-80 I get 18. And the one time I drove for 200 miles at 45-60 mph I got just about 20 (19.9 or so).
Soit seems the epa estimates are right (for my H3 at least). 16 combined city/highway and 20 highway (if you were driving 60 instead of 75-80).
If ImportKillers' vehiclle is getting 8.9,...something is wrong withthe engine,or he left the parking brake on.

Hummerguy,
This is a request for some assistance. There is a group of non-believers on a post titled, mpg/h3. I am getting the same mileage as you and a bunch of the members can't believe it. would you be so kind to post your results. I guess we got the good ones!

Not sure if you have tried this or not but you can reset the computer which is a factor in this situation by disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes. I have had several trucks in the past drop 2-3 miles per gallon when it had a bad 02 sensor. I have had bad 02 sensors in the past fail without a check engine light being on. 02 sensors measure how much gas is in the air fuel mixture along with emissions. If you live up north at a higher altitude with hills you use more pedal to maintain the same speed. Just some food for thought. If it isnt any of this. Also change your air filter if you havent for a while. I run a can of accetone every year or so to help clean the injectors. Every time I do this I get half a mile to the gallon back. Hope any of this helps....

I just got my '06 H3 about a month ago. I've only figured out the gas mileage twice. The first time which was about half and half around town and highway driving and I averaged 15.8 mpg. When I took a 2hr highway trip I got about 19.5 mpg. I now work in the city and do a lot of stop and go traffic and I know I'm getting worse than the 15.8. I'll have to say I'm a bit disappointed but I guess it's better than putting premium in the p.o.s. audi I traded in for the Hummer.
