I'm wanting to try and swap out my '05 H2 chrome grill for the new '07-'09 H2 grill. Does anybody know if this will be a direct fit and bolt or is a completely different set up? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I believe the swap itself is simple enough but, you may not be able to use the same mini-grill. ie. little black grill that fits just under the main grill.

We ran into that problem in our bodyshop. They did some extensive front end work on an older model H2. They ordered and installed a new chrome grill and it looked really good too.

When they went to install the original mini grill it wouldn't fit. There is a slight difference in the placement of the holes into which the newer mini grill's clips fit into.

Thanks for the information on the grill swap. I'm going to try and do the swap this weekend. If I get the newer mini grill ('08-'09) will it be a direct fit to the new grill, or will I need to fab up some extra brackets or anything? Thanks for the time in advance.

If you get both a new upper chrome grill and the lower mini grill of the same model year it will be a perfect fit to one another.

There should be no need for any fabricating. You probably already know this but, the upper chrome grill is just held in place with a couple of 10mm nuts on each side. The remainder of the attachment points are simply push-in clips.

Once the 10mm nuts are removed you just pull off the main grill.

If I remember correctly, the problem our body shop encountered was due to the fact that they ordered a new chrome grill to fit the most recent production run of H2's. The H2 they had been working on was a 2004. As I stated before, the new grill fit nicely; it was just not compatible with the existing older style mini-grill from the 2004 H2.
