Plus you have the expense of getting them painted the body color.

Why so expensive ? and why changing the great look of the H3 body ? Of course it is not nice to have the whole side of the H3 dirty when driving to a wet area or mud. I guess all of us know the mess at the door handles.
Solution:
I just installed some mud flaps behind the front wheels. Not really beautiful but helps a lot, and it was very cheap (US$24) and easy to install (have to drill two small wholes into existing plastic fender.
I'm very happy

Picture is not from a H3.
Not sure it will cover very wide tires but stock wheels are fine

I've always liked those E&G fender flares, I almost bought a set. Glad I didn't now that I have my big tires on it. Even the E&G flares would not help stop the mud slinging on the swampers with procomp rims. They stick out a little more than two inches beyond the fender well. Looks like the E&G's add maybe another inch tops. They sure look good though. I opted for the OEM mudflaps for about $60 for the set of four. They match perfectly with that knurled diamond pattern and look totally factory, sadly they don't stop the mud on my stock tires much less the swampers.

I'm not sure I've seen a set of flares that I would be willing to put on my vehicle.
Nothing seems to look right on these fenders. (Unlike a flat sided H2)
I'd love to see some extended width replacement fenders.....
A joint out of Japan has 'em but they are not available in the states
