Ok this is supposed to be a pic of my 2006 H3 pulling a 28.5' Bayliner weighing 5500 lbs dry, with 100 gallons of fuel on board, plus the 1000 lb trailer, my stereo in the truck, our luggage, and my girlfriend and myself... This pic was taken the day I bought the boat (please excuse the truck and boat being dirty...and bright yellow) but Just after this pic I towed the boat from GA where I bought it to SC for over 6 hrs. Put it in third gear, be easy on it, and it will get 12.5 mpg. Yes it is slow to start... and yes It needs more power up steep hills, but hello!!! It has always needed more power, and been slow to start. Unfortuneately.... I will be looking into a programer to give it more power for towing.. any suggestions?
Bottom line, I have towed nearly everything with my truck, and have not been disapointed yet.

WOW that boat is huge, but beautiful.
I saw an H3 pulling a really nice bass boat yesterday.

I pull a 19 foot trailer, dry weight of 3800 lbs and I don't put much in it to keep the weight down.
Keep the trans in 3rd even on the open highway. I service the trans way more frequently than required in the manual
I would recommend that you respect the tow limit stated for our trucks. I hate to sound like a laywer, but overloading your truck and getting into an accident could be serious. Your insurance could refuse to cover you because you have exceeded the design capabilities of the H3. Your H3 will do well keeping within the limits, but please use caution. Trailering is a bit of an art

Thank you white08h3. I love my new toy (big yellow boat) and my truck.
Starguy33, thank you for your words of wisdom. I agree trailering is a bit of an art, Thankfully my trailer has great brakes, and I go very easy on it. i actually dont pull any faster than 60mph, and stay in 3rd the entire time, I keep the trans serviced, and all is good so far. I have 85k miles on my truck, I bought it new.
But i think there should be some type of training or something people go through to pull a boat that big.. I drive limos as a second job, and without that expierance I feel like I could be very dangerous pulling such a large boat.
\
However i still need some type of program to give me more power for going up hills. i live where there are LOTS of LARGE bridges and I can tell the truck does not like to pull the boat up steep grades... so any suggestions on transmission programmers, or power programers would be great!!
thanks!!

h3 towing a lexus
My husband and I just moved to San Diego,CA from Miami,FL driving our hummer H3 and towing our Lexus IS on top of a trailer for 3000 miles, the trailer by itself weighted 2100lb plus the car another 3500lb for a total of 5600lb, I know it was crazy from us to do that but the hummer responded very well, it didn't overheat even though the outside temperature reached 100F and we went up a 4181ft elevation mountain. I'm so proud of my black boy (that's how we call it) and don't be afraid of towing with it.

I tow our 21ft Cuddy boat with no problem. Hardly know she is back there. Also, two two 4x4 atv's and trailer. Also, no issues.
