wheel backspacing
#2
if you do a search on www you will find endless info on wheels and backspace. it involves the dimension between the mounting surface and the centerline of the wheel.
some wheels look like a "c" with the mount at the outside.
others like an "I" beam with the mount centered,or slightly off center.
it can be moved by the maker but must be right for the vehicle.
if you are way off the tire will hit somewhere.
read all about it.

Happythree just described OFFSET very well.
BACKSPACE is the measurement from the inside of the rim (the edge towards the vehicle) and the mounting surface.
The smaller the backspace dimension, the farther the wheels will stick out from the vehicle.
