What octane with Raptorq?

RE: What octane with Raptorq?
I can only speak from my experience, but....
I ordered a PCM for my '08. At the time of ordering, I asked the sales rep if the truck would run fine on 87 or 89 octane, just in case. He said, "no problem, you just won't get the whole 40hp." Right.
I installed the Raptorq on a Friday night, and, after four attempts at resetting the security system ("May occur on some vehicles" said the instructions)
I fired up my truck to take the kids to a movie. I floored it to accelerate across an intersection, and the thing knocked and pinged so bad my kids thought dad's new truck was broken. Bear in mind, I had a tank of 89 with a bottle of octane boost, since the computer arrived right after I filled the truck up.
I drove the truck till Sunday, and topped off with Chevron 91. Even then, it still ran crappy, and surged under part throttle. Needless to say, I shipped it back the next day.
Don't get me started on the week it took to get my $$ back.....

RE: What octane with Raptorq?
Oh, yes, and I also incurred the "check engine" light, apparently caused by the need to reset the crank position sensor. Again, "May occur on some vehicles" per the instructions.
So I spent a half hour of labor at the GMC dealer next to my place of work to reset/relearn the PCM.
Again, this was on an 08, your mileage may vary.

I'm not sure, they said they had done several 08's, but no one on the forums seemed to have any experience. I'm going with a handheld programmer, so that I may reload the stock program in case I need to take the truck in for any warranty issues.
