ill take a new house anyday!!! new fixtures, granite countertops, full communication hookups in every room, built in surround sound...but then again, there is nothing like being in an older house that has stood the test of time.

They are great. When I was in Texas and had my homebuilding company I built a period correct early Texas house down in Fredricksburg for a guy. I had a blast. We searched all over the country for 200 year old beams and 150 year old doors and hardware. It was like solving a mystery to find all the right stuff for this guy but the place was amazing when completed.

Oh, if I get it there will be silestone counters or concrete. Built in appliances or probably AGA (sp?) Stove and Fridge. They look old but with brand new technology. It will be brought back to original beauty but with hidden modern amenities. You would be amazed at some of the places you can hide wires in a house if you know what you are doing. I want to have everything but you can't see it until you need it.
I love the creeking floors and tin roofs. This actually has slate, but those are cool too!

That is a beautiful old home. It oozes with character! I love old stuff, and old houses are the best. Houses just aren't built like that anymore. My house is pretty old too. Old homes come with history and to me always carry a little warmth from the history it has, new homes seem too empty or sterile... kinda weird.
