very easy to make it a part time 4x4...get a real transfer case.
Yeah...Real easy....[sm=badidea.gif]. You might as well just do a whole engine swap while you're at it. Start with an LS2 v8, then a six speed Allison.......Woo-hoo!!
not trying to argue, but just to give you some info...the auto trans in the h3 is a 4L60-E four-speed automatic...all you have to do really is drop the full time transfer case and bolt up a new part time case. Advance adapters would have any adapters you would need....it's not that hard of an install at all...at least it shouldn't be. Bieng that the h3 uses a very common trans, finding a t-case would be easy and not all that expensive. If I keep my h3 I'll be putting my atlas II transfer case into it...hardest part of the job will be cutting holes in the floor for the shifters.

Well, get on it! I am sure you would have to have different software running the thing. There are so many sensors that make the stab control work and I think if you pull transfer case out and replace it you are going to be sending it for a loop! [sm=yikesomg.gif]<-----Computer after you replace the transfer case!!

yea, I don't know...the atlas is a fully mechanical t-case...no electronics needed. So it would need no computer input or monitoring to work. Unhooking the stock t-case wouldn't make the truck run any different...not like a bad 02 sensor....you'll maybe get a CEL but that's it. It's definately gonna be an interesting project for someone...but I don't think I'm keeping my h3, I really need child safety door locks and the 06's don't have em.

oh, I'm going to be getting another hummer when I trade my 06 in, but won't be swapping out t-cases on a brand new h3 with warrantyIf I had kept the 06 and the warranty was almost out then I would do a swap. I need to get another h3 so the wife has a car for the groceries

If you never take your H3 off-road, and it is the "grocery getter", might I suggest a Trailblazer SS instead? A much more practical ride if all you are doing is getting groceries. And, it will probably get better mileage than your H3 does, anyway.....[sm=crossbonesgif.gif][sm=happybounce.gif][sm=icon_ladiesman.gif][sm=smiley20.gif][sm=yeahsmile.gif][sm=icon_cheers.gif][sm=burnout.gif]

I don't like the wet weather visability. Even with rain-x it's a beotch to keep the W/S clear. My Bronco and Grand Cherokee rule in this regard. Beyond that it ain't bad.
