Papito - The H2 is a heavy, flat-sided, yet very capable vehicle. Good tires, maintenance, and skill in handling the vehicle safely and to its potential are the solutions in my opinion. I was trying to be funny with the wind vein. One thing I have not seen mentioned is getting your tires siped (Tire Siping - Discount Tire). I have not done this on my new tires; however, have on my Jeep tires and it runs $50.

If you dont have tires that have a good bite already, I agree with Man1nboat, you can get yours siped at Discount Tire and that will help you get a lil better grip on the road.. I have aggressive tires and that is where get all of my tires, so I have read up on it but have never gotten it done. It is a option for ya...

a hummer is a boxy 3 ton beast on big tires. Not a bimmer 335I or something. The ride is totally different. That with wind needs some adjustment and is a bit of a learning curve.
Hummers just do not like lots of wind. Other things to check are tie rods and front wheel bearings

Just an FYI, I get some hydroplanning on really rainy days. There is no getting around the fact that you have what is refered to in the tire industry as a "floatation" sized tire on the h2's.

Hydroplanning?... that's not good... particularly on winter... I will try the sipped idea. I had found a close by location to see how does it goes. @NLhummer, what kind of adjustment had you made? Im going to contact the hummer club here in Chicago, to see what they had done.

Wanted to let you all know that I really appreciate all your advice and experience... and man1boat... maybe a windbreaker (wind vain...)could be a good project... lol

The adjustment was not to the vehicle but myself.. It just drives different.
It is like going from a racebike to a mountainbike

Just in water, siping is for snow/ice traction. I don't have any issues on ice or snow. just rain. Siping has its disadvantages. depending on what you do with your hummer, siping can cause irregular/premature wear on your tires but its only going to possibly help traction on ice/snow.
