Default Weak Batteries??

Anyone else have trouble with your battery holding a charge??

I have been working on my stereo lately...and if I leave the ignition on
(without starting it) for more than 5-6 minutes - it drains the battery and
wont even turn over.

I wonder if I have a crappy battery or if the charging system is that weak??

Thanks.

Could be a bad battery, but...
Was the truck doing this BEFORE you started work on the stereo? Even if you goofed something on the stereo work (not sure what you were doing) it should either blow a fuse if incorrectly wired, melt some wires (you'd notice), or certainly last longer than a few minutes! Probably should have you dealer test it!

Mine has done this twice. I got a new battery and so far it seems ok.

I've had my battery replaced TWICE under WARRANTY. Went and bought an Optima Yellow Top. No probs since!

The only work I did to the stereo was to unplug the stock one and plug in a new 6-disc OEM deck.
So...I dont think I could have damaged anything.

But I have had this problem prior to installing the new deck.

I think its a weak battery...I guesss I should make an appointment at the dealer.

Thanks for the responses.

AC Delco batteries are junk when they are new. Worse after you start the vehicle a few times with it.[:'(]
