Default Want to change rims from chromed to powdercoating..

Has anybody done this to their rims? Hate the chrome, it's flaking off and causing the tires to not seal properly. Was wondering if it was worth getting the rims sandblasted to remove ths chrome and maybe powdercoating them. Would love black rims. Or is it about the same cost to just buy black rims if I can find them? Thanks for any advice...

finding a set of tactical rims is near impossible for a decent price. last time I had rim powdercoated it was like $50 a wheel. I would go ahead and get them powdercoated. I am getting ready to do something similar to a set of rims myself

Thanks for your reply. Found a set on eBay, but the price is high. Will probably find a powdercoating place around me and get that done before the end of the year.

Do it.

Had the same chrome major flaking issue plus deep pitting in areas on my factory rims. One of the first and best mods I did when I bought a used 2007 H3. Just confirm the shop or crew doing the work will properly prep and bead blast ALL the chrome off. I rattle can sprayed my center caps with bed liner. Some have complained the powder coat will scratch or ding when rock crawling and gravel travel. . .no kidding. After one year, my rims look as good as the day they were done. Saved me big $$$, they look unique and no one else has anything that looks like them.

You could do line x on the outer surfaces. Not the bead lip area.
