Default Volant Hummer h3 Exhaust Problems

Hey Guys,

Just bought and installed a Cat back Volant SS Exhaust... I am having a few issues that have left me stumped. I think the main issue is that when I bought it they said it was for 05-08 Hummer h3 3.7L trucks. When I look up the part number Volant Exhaust #15635750 its comes up everywhere as 05-07? I am not sure if there is a difference in 08?

(See photos)
Issues:
1. Look in photo you can see where the exhaust pipe attaches to the cat pipe the Hanger there does not reach the rubber hanger on the chassy? Any ideas? possible fix?

2. Exhaust tips seem to hang to low and one side is slighty higher than the other. There does not seem to be any adjustments to make since the muffler just hangs on the hangers?

3. When I am in Idle and I rev the gas when it revs down i here some popping from the back exhaust, Is this normal? There does not seem to be any leaks.

Overall if I can theses issues fixed it would be a nice setup. It does sound great!

All the help is much appreciated.

Also I am trying to raise the pipes about 1/2 inch to 1 inch higher to be closer to the cutouts.

dont no what to tell u, u always wana make sure the part u buy is for the year u have and it sounds like u have a 08 hummer and the part u bought is for a 05 to 07. there must be a reason it does not go to 08 and it seems like u found that it dont match up so i would check where u bought it on there return policy, i have the dual cat back exhaust by magnaflow and i have a 06 h3 and i bought the exhaust for the 06 h3. they even have u put your info in at check out so they can confirm u are ordering the correct part to avoid any problems. love mine and only paid $350 new in box shiped. took me a couple of months searching for a great price and eventually bought it directly from magnaflow when they had a 1 day special where it was on sale and then they had a $300 instant rebate and free s/h so i could not pass on $350 and then my local custome shop installed it for $60 and they had it up on the rack and down in 25 min and was off.a very freat experience and very happy . HUMMER ON

I actually decided to keep the system since i got a good deal on it. 250.00 installed.

I went to the exhaust shop that works for the dealer and they said the 07 and 08 system is the same except that hanger problem. They ended up fixing that by welding an extension on the hanger so now it reaches the rubber hanger...

The only thing about the Volant system i dont like is the way the tips come out on an angle as opposed to straight out like the others.

I'm thinking the exhaust shop "used by the dealer" has some mental deficient employees?

MagnaFlow, Gibson, Billy Boat, and .... on all show the same part #s for all I5 H3s?

I've been under 08 H3s and while I wasn't spec measuring to find a differencs, they sure look the same as the earlier years.

Volants do point their tips downward more than the above MFGers, and they use high chromium content so they are nice and shiny, which is useless up north as the first winter will have them looking like everbody else's CAT back systems.

Yeah... No the guys seems like hes legit. He's installed over 100 of these systems. The hanger position of one the hangers near the head in the picture above is the one that was short. He said he had to weld extensions on almost every system he has put in. He did an awesome job on it BTW. Highly recommend him in the PHX area.

AS for Volant. I called them yesterday and told them that I have an 08 hummer h3 3.7L and that I was trying to install the Volant 05-07 Exhaust. He told me that I can't and that the hangers and head is completely different because according to him "05 h3 have 3.5L 07 3.6L and 08 3.7L" When he said that I knew that he either did not know what hes talking about or trying to sell me an 08 system for 900 buks.

Anyway its installed now and looks and sounds great. Im going to see if I can have the same shop change the way the tips go down. I like them straight! AHHH im too ****.

I have the Volant too and love it, my brother got his used from craigslist but I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Volant Exhaust 15635750, or you can try one of the sponsors here on the forum, they are allways having sales/specials. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.

I had a similar problem happen today. I have a 2006 H3 and I bought a volant kit on ebay for $300 shipped that they said was for 05-07 H3. Whats in the box. 2008-09 kit. instead of part number #15635750 I get #15635751. Hopefully I can make it work. I contacted the seller so we'll see what they have to say.
