Default Used H2 question. Former owner want another one.

Hey Board,

I got an H2 when I was younger and after a few years and 4 dollar gas prices I was forced to give it up. Fast forward 10 years and the urge to get another one is still there. I'm just wondering on how they hold up? I've seen them with 65k miles and 190k miles. Is there a number I should stay away from? I plan on keeping this bad boy forever and I know things will go wrong but I don't want to get one and have the tranny drop out. Any help is greatly appreciated as I know the truck well but don't know the mechanical side. Thanks in advance.

Plenty of owners well over the 100K mark without many issues. These things are getting old! Personally I wouldn't buy a used vehicle with over 100k on the odo but that's just me. Lower mileage H2's are pulling a premium in the price department. High mileage are cheap, that is why people are buying them up.

Thanks for the response. The 60z-70s mile ones are getting big money. I don't want the truck to fall apart at 120-130. It that's the case id have the buyer the lower mileage one.

I bought my 06 Lux going on 5 years ago with 32k on the odo and I paid for that lower mileage back then. Now 32k would be considered never driven with as much as some of these dealerships are wanting for them. I have just over 62k on it now and luckily haven't had any major issues.

The engine is pretty much bulletproof, basically a cast iron LS2. Trannys on the other hand just seem to all of a sudden go out on these things. Mine has acted up since they day I bought it but it has never failed me.

Quite a few drivetrain parts are interchangeable with 2500HD's but H2 specific parts like interior parts and other items are getting harder and harder to find. I buy whatever I come across when I see hard to find things and stow them away in the garage.

Good luck finding the right one!

And it's still cheaper to maintain Hummer compare to all German cars or luxury Japanese brands because parts not so expensive like foreign one and You can use regular gas, but not supreme or premium like Lexus, Acura or Infinity.
