Default Under body armor-install issues

I just picked up the under body armor, usually called UCP here by myself and others, and I could not get it installed last night. Simply put, I cannot get the bolts to line up. For the rear armor I could not get the front center bolt to line up straight and not cross-thread into the frame until I reversed the installation directions--and it was still a b*tch. For the front plate, I installed one rear bolt (through the rear armor as per the instructions) and then could not get the front bolts to line up to the holes where the front skid plates end (in the front crossmember). The front bolts were off at least 1/8 of an inch and simply werent' going to go in. I've heard of success stories putting these in. Has anyone had my problems and can help me get these on? Am I missing something here?

I would add that the rear armor seemed about 1mm too small and the front armor was 1mm-2mm too large. Maybe if I relocated the middle crossmember 1mm it would be perfect--yeah, right.

Not too mention that at 7 pm it was still 105 out, I had just shut off the truck and it was firiggin' hot underneath.

Those UCPs need tweeking, so I've been told? Have not done one myself?Air tools; a die grinder, and adrill would set you up. I have been looking at the set up.

Doc, if I just had a garage and those tools I'd be all over it! Living in a condo with a carport I'm a bit hamstrung. I have to do my work in a buddy's driveway. Do you think a standard drill will help me increase the hole sizes?

I called my bud who has put the underbody pkg on his. Yes a drill and a set of bits would help get the holes in line. He said he and a friend did it together and tried to get all the bolts started just a bit before tightening anything. Clearly, it is a PITA to install. Good luck.

If these are the GM underbody protection I had no trouble installing mine. They fit just as the instuctions stated exactly. Steve
