Talking traction failed / reduced power

Interesting comments: had my first experience with this flashing dash message recently after leaving a bar late one night, the '06 H3 had a rough start, messages appeared and then the "limp mode" as in it wouldn't allow speeds over 30-35 mph, after a mile pulled over and checked under the hood. After checking fluid levels restarted and drove home attaining normal road speeds. However, next day H3 wouldn't turn over, figured battery failure (original 6 yr old battery). Charged it for a jump start and had battery checked, told one of the cells was bad so replaced with new battery and H3 driving fine now. Never checked codes.
The 'limp mode" threw me off guard, wasn't prepared for the reduced speed which cleared after restarting the H3 that night. Could have explained "limp mode" excuse to the gal from the bar instead of my look of puzzlement. My luck was that the H3 restarted that night.

Hi i had the reduced power, traction failed message and it was the gas pedal. If you have codes p2120, p2122, p2128 you need to replace the throttle (gass)pedal assembly 50 dollars at Allied Auto parts or most parts stores or on line.Do this first it will repair both messages and its easy to do.I did take it to the dealer with my extended warrenty and thay could not fix it but charged 150 dollars for reading then clearing the codes, ten days later it came back ,calld the dealer, and it will be 150 dollars to ck it out,no thanks.Get a code reader, a low cost power train reader will do. YOU CAN DO IT! HAPPY TRAILS ERNIE

Like I said in post # 10?

Unfortunately those same codes can also mean a bad throttle position sensor, but the PPS is cheaper.
