Default Tires for stock 20"

I'm in the process of buying an 09' H2 and wanted to know what you guys do for replacement tires.

It seems the stock tires (GoodYear Wrangler SR-A) are the only tires I've come across that are 305/60R20. I've read some reviews and people don't see pleased with the weak sidewall. The closest size is 305/55R20, but that's over an 1" shorter.

I was thinking of trying out 285/65R20 (almost an inch narrower, but just a hair taller), but I'm guessing there might be trouble with a narrower tire?

Are most of you guys running 305/55 or 35s & 325/60s?

You can run any tire that is 35x12.5x20 so you certainly have quite a few options available to you.

I'm currently running the Toyo Open Country AT2 Extreme (size 35x12.5x20). It has a more aggressive tread pattern than the stock BFG or Wrangler SR-A but is not howling loud going down the road. I find them to be pretty quiet. I posted a pic (crappy phone pic from when I picked up my Christmas tree this past December)

I would contact www.mrwheeldeal.com for pricing on the tires. They were hands down the best price I could find on my wheel/tire setup last year. I got prompt email response from them. They do sell just tires without wheels. I would simply suggest emailing them for a price at: Support@MrWheelDeal.com

Thanks for the replies.

I'm more just interested in seeing if anyone is not running a 35" tire. That's always the go to size. Very few "seem" stay w/ a 305 or buy 325s. I've seen one or two posts with 325s on 20s, but that's it.

I'll just get hummer 17s if I plan on getting different wheels. I have a 18" Fuel wheels if I want something in between.

MVR 155, I'll check out the site. They usually can beat tirerack? I always end up ordering from there as they can get tires to me in less than 24 hours & I can't see to find better price or the place is OOS.

I appreciate both of your reviews on that AT2. I've run them myself & I'll never go with toyo again. That tire seems to be a favorite on every forum I see, but my experiences with them don't line up with reviews. I break away from the highway in wet conditions. Due to the weight, stopping in them can be a nightmare in split second situations. For me, they performed worse offroad than BFG TA KOs that had over 50k miles on them. Not to mention, ride quality was worse than the Firestone Transforce HT tires my Ram came with (those tires have horrible reviews). I'm glad you both love the tires, since it's so expensive to replace them. Unluckily for me , they really blow in wet conditions & we get lots of rain down here on the gulf coast. I simply didn't feel safe in them.

I went with Nitto Terra Grappler G2 on mine. Cranked up the torsion bars a little and went with 325/60/20. It has a great look imo and they really do not ride bad at all. Not to mention they are a good bit cheaper than some of the others.

You were able to find someone who was willing to mount a tire that state it's for a 9" to 12" wheel?

Most people here won't do that.

I think i'm solidly moving towards 17s, but this is interesting info. The nitto was my 2nd choice for either size. It looks like a great tire.

If Nitto, I would go with the Trail Grappler's for more aggressive look and more aggressive performance than an AT.
