Any body have any tips for a guy getting ready to change the poly belt on an 06 H3? I am not really sure how to push the tensioner arm down to get the old belt off and the new one on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Ok so after looking at the tensioner arm really good I noticed a sqaure hole. So I got a 3/8 drive ratchet to fit the hole and turned it clockwise to release some of the tension to get the belt off then the new one on. FYI it would of been easier with a breaker bar. Note if you have to change the tensioner arm it has a 15mm bolt, I checked just in case the new belt does not relieve the sqeak on a cold start I will be changing the tensioner arm.

 

I too am getting an ocassional squeek. 06 with 65,000 miles.
When are people changing their belt.
Let us know how the new belt works.

on my first trip in h3 i checked autozone and they couldnt even cross it, i checked advanced auto and it was IN STOCK ! for <$40 as i recall

i like to carry a spare, usually never need it !!

does the book say 100,000 miles?

if so i may not use it, 42000 now
