I've had Silverstars in my truck since the first month I got it and they are still going strong almost 3 years later.

Do you have an '06 or early '07? If your parking lights act as your daytime running lights vs. your low beams, that could account for the long life you're getting.

My silverstar bulbs started to melt the fog light lenses. Probably because the fogs come on when the remote start starts the truck and the truck is not moving.

I picked up a set of KCs to replace the stock fogs. Hope to get them in soon. Just too cold when I have a minute to work on them.

Rodman, you sure it's the bulbs and not from mud sitting on the lenses after wheelin? It acts like an insulator causing them to get stupid hot...

Mine are semi melted too. I have a lot of mud inside my fog lights that I haven't cleaned out yet. It's been well over a year... But I also snipped off the factory socket and spliced in the high heat sockets for a 9006 lamp I believe. So I am running high beam lamps in my fogs. Helps with visibility... Yeah, that's it.

I upgraded to hids.... the kits are cheap on ebay, the bi xenon, hi/low kits are like 60$ and the standard kit like for my fogs was 30$. Each bulb comes with a ballast pack, and the light out put is incredible like a mercedes or bmw... i chose 6000k so it would be more white than blue. Ill take some pictures if you guys get interested in making this conversion... its all plug and play... 20min dummy installation ...

I did however have a photo of the look of the street at nite, this photo was taken to show my friend the vanity mirror lights im about to update to leds... and if you notice in background you will see the hid lights on the street... headlights are 600k white, fog 8000k blue )

I didnt like HID kits for the fact that the highs dont always work when needed. In the places I drive there is always on coming traffic so you have to switch them on and off.

Thats what made me go with the silverstar ultras.

And here is a pic of before and after (comparing the stock lights with the ultras)

Dagkana,

Nope. No mud issue. Bulbs just get hot while idling as the air conditioning cools off the truck .
