Default Stuck on Defrost

My 2005 H2 decided that it wants to only blow air through the defrost vents. I push the button to change it, but it doesn't do a thing. It will change from hot to cold alright. Anyone have any suggestions?

does it make a clicking sound when you press the button, could be a bad relay not allowing the HVAC system to transfer the block plate from defrost to front vents.

It's the actuator just above the gas pedal. It is absolutely no fun to get out. Only two screws but the top one is almost impossible to get to. Once you pull it off, it is at attached to a round looking plate with slots in it. If the plate is rotated (either by the actuator or by hand when you get the actuator out) it will direct the air to the front vents. If you rotate it clockwise, the defrost vents. If you take the plate out, or it falls out like it did mine when I took out the actuator, the levers will spring into position such that the air will flow out the front vents and not the defrost.
Hope this helps someone.

I forgot to mention that if you do a little searching you might be able to fix it by recalibration if you recently had a dead battery or new battery. Search for "HVAC Actuator Recalibration Procedure for GM Trucks and SUV's" . Good Luck!

Welcome to HF. Please refrain from digging up old azzed threads and note that ALL H2 questions belong in the H2 section. You have merely perpetuated old crap in the wrong section.
