Struggling Engine
Hiya All !!
I have a question. My H3 seems sometimes like it is struggling to pick up speed, I get a louder sound than usual from the engine. Is this normal? Its not all of the time, just mainly early mornings (it can't be the cold, its 30 Degree's here at 6am!! )or am I being a girl about the whole thing??

RE: Struggling Engine
During initial start up, you H3's computer (PCM)enters what is called "engine start up strategies" which dramatically enrich fuel mixture, change timing (ignition and VVT [this includes exhaust manifold valve timing])and can in fact sound a little different than when up to full operating temperature. Look at your temperature guage, if it is not yet up to the mid dial normal range for a couple minutes when you hear the strange sound, this may be the reason. These start up settings also mean your gas mileage is the pits until the truck warms up, drive it easy until the temp. is in the normal range to save some gas.
This is my guess for now. With more info., might be able to help more???

RE: Struggling Engine
hello there.
i am a "dirty carsalesman". i sold chevys for over three years and am now currently selling hummers. i know exactly what you are talking about. GM's vortec engines will sometimes seem sluggish when first started when they havent been driven in a while ( a few days) or if it is cold outside. the trailbalzer, envoy, H3, and 6.0L V8's have been known to have this strange habit. nothing to frett about. if it is a big concern to you and your vehicle is still under warranty, i would take it to your dealer and have them check it just for the piece of mind. hope this helps.
