Strange Enginge/RPM dip while Idling
I did a quick forum search and didn't find anything that seemed similar to the issue I'm currently having. H3 drives perfect until I come to a red light and am idling for a moment. The RPM drop from about 1 to 1/2 that and then kicks right back up. You can feel the engine kind of "dip" as the RPM drop. It has not stalled or anything but its an uneasy feeling when it dips. Once you accelerate there are no further issues. At first I thought it was the battery surging but the battery was replaced recently and the issue persists.
Anyone know what it could be and whether its anythnig to be concerned about? Thanks!

Air filter, MAF, TB, ground, dirt/water in the gas, injector, plugs/plug wires, sensor, etc. etc. etc. Could be anything and if it's not throwing a code it can probably be fixed with a tune-up and gas treatment.

if it's not throwing a code
yeah, today for 50-100 bucks, a code reader prob is mandatory.
i stash mine with the jack.
prob should check,? monthly or with oil change if no reason comes up.
with 100000 mile plugs, not much else to do cept the filt.

The idle will change depending on air and engine temps, easy of the flow of the fuel (colder will make thicker fuel etc). 1000 is not odd for cold weather. It could be any number of the things as posted above or just and issue with the tension idler or anything on the serp belt.

We have a 2007 H3 with just over 45,000 miles. Since the weather has gone below freezing I have noticed our H3 doing the same thing. Acts like it wants to stall out when you come to a stop. RPMs will drop then suddenly surge back up. Not sure what is going on. Wife said it was really bad today. Was having a hard time idling right after being started.
Time to take it in I think.
