Default Sticky 4x4 selector buttons

Hi all,

Pretty much all my offroading is in the sand dunes.....my first selector switch (changing 4hi, 4hi lock,4 low lock, diff lock in H3 2008 Adventure model) lasted 2.5 yrs (including when I was learning and getting heaps on sand through the whole car ), then second switch lasted about 4 months, got it replaced and now sticking again after a couple of months, seems quality dropped off alot.....even only a little bit of sand does it.....can get back to the ratio i want eventually but takes time....

Anyone replaced the switch with a more durable relocated/swapped switch???...it is a contact switch so not sure how easy to do? any suggestions????

Thanks all.

Cheers
Sandkiwi...

Are you duning with the windows open? How are you getting that much sand inside?

Any way you can cover the buttons with polythene when you're in the desert... I did this for when I need to open the doors in sandstorm.

If you can change the switch assembly, why not just remove a few more screws, shake out the dust, reassemble and cover with some clear plastic? Its not hard to do.

Thanks happy 3 & rajul for suggestions...

Windows down at times and ac off in summer too...nice to get fresh air, the sand is fine and amount it not much...basically it seems the build quality of the switches has dropped significantly....yes some plastic would do but will look cheap and nasty too...was wondering if anyone has changed the switch panel out, appears not...thanks again and happy driving..

Default Silicone Spray

Anybody try silicone spray or just sanding the space between. My 4x4 low switch sticks where it makes contact with the plate to the right...
