Default Steering wheel is crooked...

How do you straighten the steering wheel?

Good question. wheeled over the weekend and now my wheel isn't straight either. The car doesn't pull at all, if you let go of the wheel on a flat road (no crown to speak of) it tracks perfect. My wheel is about 10 degrees off since the trip. I'm supposed to go into the dealer on Thursday. Maybe I tweaked an inner tie rod. It puzzles me that the car doesn't pull to one side. Anyone got a clue for either of us?

I don't know, but I think it may be something in the design. I owned a 2004 Colorado Crew Cab Z71 and it had the same issue.

Mine was dead straight before the trip. I've read that lot's of guys have to get alignments done after wheeling. I don't get it. If nothing is damaged (bent) what is moving around to cause this. I looked at my tie rods and unless they're bent under the boot they look fine. My old Grand Cherokee that I use for really tough wheeling (it has lockers, 35"'s, long arm suspension, 6" lift, etc) and I don't have this problem with stock steering. My H3 adventure worked very well in some tough rocky terrain at Rausch Creek (I did trail 13a&b for example) but when I left for home (200 miles away) I noticed the wheel was off, but the truck tracked normally.

My old Jeep Wrangler was easy to adjust with an adjustment sleeve underneath... Like your grand cherokee it never moved once set straight.

if it drives staight it's got nothing to do w/ anything other than ya'll cranked on the steering wheel to hard. now a days it'a probably a little more complicated to fix due to air bags but it's just a matter of loosening the steering wheel bolt a moving it.

The steering wheel is on a spline. It's not like the wheel can slip around. That would be crazy dangerous!

My wheel is also off about 10 degrees after a curb impact, but tracks fine down the road other than you have the wheel angled...no signs of bent tie rod. Will an alignment take care of this? I guess they will have to inspect it.

It is probably best to get a wheel alignment, then the tech will straighten the wheel when the tires are aligned and straight.

Perhaps nothing is bent or even worn, but after heavy usage it is finally settled in and maybe after an alignment it will stay aligned until parts do get worn or bent.
Just a theory.
