Question Steering shaft noise 2009 h3

I have a 2009 h3 and i am getting the steering shaft noises in the wheel and pedals when i drive slowly over bumps, i am familiar with the noises because my 2007 gp gxp had one replaced. The dealership continues to play stupid every time i take it in to him and it has been numerous times. I know they say 2007 had the issue but has anyone else with a 2009 experienced this noise also? I do have a 1 in body lift on the truck and i heard that the shaft gets pulled out a little bit because of the lift, does anyone know of any adjustment i can make on the shaft? Or is this another one of gm's hidden issues and the body lift has nothing to do with it??

Are you referring to the shaft or the steering rack?
Maybe take it to another dealership...

the steering shaft, daystar says a 1in body lift is max due to the steering shaft pulling out of the rack as the body raises. theres a bolt clamping the shaft midway down the shaft in the fender well. i thought i could loosen it and maybe slide the shaft toward the rack a bit and maybe the noise would lessen?? but the noises are typical steering shaft symptoms just don't know if the body lift is causing it??

oh, been to two different shops and both act just as dumb as the other, one took it for a ride over some really bumpy set of tracks in our city where it makes the same noise every time i drive over them for the last year and he claims he heard nothing! these dealerships are scammers!

Hmm... I haven't taken a look at the steering shaft and this is the first to the best of my recollection as far as issues w/ it... But my memory has failed me before... Anyway to get a pic of it?

I know there is an issue w/ the steering rack moving out of place and or cracking...
Could you explain the noises? Is it a clunking or like a ford power steering whine...?

kinda a light clanging or best described someone tapping lightly on the steering shaft under the dash with a metal object then you also feel a slight vibration in the gas pedal and brake pedal. exactly the symptoms with my grand prix gxp (2007) and they replaced the shaft.

We have had the intermediate steering saft replaced under warranty on our 09 H3T Mr. "T". It did take care of the slight "click/clunk" we would get when turning right when backing up.

Our previous 08 Alpha Mr. Orange, also had one of the steering shafts replaced for a similar condition.

BS, on it only being an 07 issue. Find a different dealer!!!!
