my first guess is the sway bar links.... my h3 only has 11k on it i would expect them to be bad already i baby this thing , its never been off- roading and i creep over all RR crossings. it also does it sometimes over bumps. i had it in once already but they said the hood was moving a little when the body flexed so they adjusted the hood stops...B.S.! it was most likely the start of the sway bars going bad. has anyone else experienced this problem and had them replaced with low mileage? also does anyone know if the 2009s had the steering shaft issue? i feel thumping in the pedals sometimes.

 

I have had my '09 in the shop the past two days... I know exactly what you are going through, my 09 has about 17,000 miles and making a massive amount of noise under the steering wheel... I talked to the service guy and he said it sounded like it was the steering shaft issues just like the 07 models... he said they were going to replace it if it ended up being that... im picking it up tomorrow and ill try to let you know what they say...

Mine squeaks a bit when the wheel is turned, only hear it at very low speeds, probably due to other noise. Is this what you are referring to. Mine has 4K miles on it.

 

picked it up they said two body mounts had to be removed , repositioned and greased??? go figure. i haven't really driven it enough to see if the noise is gone but time will tell. as for any noises under the steering wheel, no not yet.
