Spare tire, inside or out??
#11
I just bought an H2 today, and one of the reasons I chose the one I did over the other I was considering is because it had the external tire carrier instead and the other was an '05 with the tire inside. After getting into the back a few times today I can see how the external tire can be a hassle.. But freeing up the cargo area is worth it to me. The '05 also had the 3rd row seat where the one I bought didn't - if I bought the '05 the 3rd row seat would probably just take up space in the garage.

skeptic:
Your rear seat is out? How does it look? Any regrets? Does the area lay flat with ease in and out, stuff?

That's the one feature I miss most about my old H3 was the tire mounted to the door, infact that probably end most of the were to put my spare tire discussions

I'm not sure if the 3rd row seat was an option that my 2 didn't come with or if it was just lost somewhere along the way, but I don't have a 3rd row seat at all. Tire + 3rd row seat = seating for a child and very little cargo area. With both gone there is a large usable cargo area. No regrets.
If you are asking about the 2nd row seats, I have only folded them down once at the dealership then put them right back up. They seemed to fold fairly flat to make for a huge cargo area.
Honestly though, I'd prefer if the rear hatch opened to the side instead of up and the tire was attached directly to that. Pros and cons of each I guess.

Yeah, but my hitch already has an extension. the further you extend it the lower your tongue and tow weight ratings. Im at round 6800-7200 lbs loaded at the moment and just decided to play it safe.
