Sound from front end...somewhere....???

RE: Sound from front end...somewhere....???
Just snug the body mounts,if you think you have to it's ok to spritz a small amount of silicone.DO NOT use any petroleum based grease or solventbecause crud will then collect/stick to it and cause more noise later. The body mount doughnut material dries and shrinks a tad with age (you should see the old stuff GM used after 30 or 40 years! ) and then you get a little motion where there wasn't any when factory fresh.
Brandie; I do not have the specs.....yet. I'll see what I can find, no promises, but I'll check it out.

when you say silicone...your speaking of like the black silicone sealant right? I have plenty of that...and usually use it where bolts like to loosen up.....works good as a shock/noise absorber...!

See my story here: https://www.hummerforums.com/m_125088/tm.htm
They told me there was a batch of body mount bolts that were to long so they "ground them down some". I'm not sure why they didn't replace them. It initially helped a little but I think it is just as bad now as it was before taking it in. They also lubed the rear sway bar. I wanted to give there fix a chance to settle, but its been a few weeks and I will be taking it back.
dmb7280: Did you take yours to the Dallas or Plano store? If it was Plano, mine was the one from a few weeks ago. I was going to take it to the Dallas store next to give them a shot at it.

I have been having the same creaking noise for some time. I took some silicone spray and hosed down the leaf springs, and everything in the suspension that had a bushing, front and back. The noise completly went away for a couple weeks, then slowly came back. I just had mine in the dealer last friday for the creaking noise (among other things). They kept it an extra day to try and find the noise but no luck.
I am going to lube things up a section at a time and try to islolate the noise, but it sounds like its coming from everywhere...
I'll have to check my body mounts, I'm hearing more and more about the body mount issue..

took mine to the plano location as its really close to where i live. they're always super nice, but my service rep literally said that gm told them, at this point, that its considera normal noise of the vehicle. funny thing is that the alpha loaner they gave me (with about the same mileage as mine now) was making the same exact noise. so, until they get more complaints, we get to 'deal with it'. my advice to anyone hearing it is take your truck in immediately, so they can get enough complaints to escalate the issue. that's how it worked out w/ the steering shaft. i remember going in there and they had no clue what i was talking about. 3 weeks later, its the steering shaft...who'da thunk it?

Same exact noise here. It drives me crazy for almost 2 months.
Aftre reading this post today, I decided to silicone spary the front body mount (under the front doors). - The noise has 100% gone.
I'll check the car again in the morning (when colder) and let you know what is the status.

Did the noise stay away?
I have the same creaky squeaky noise as everybody else. I have tried silicon spray and snugging the body mounts etc. The noise will go away for a day or so and then come back. Does anybody have a permanent solution? The noise is just plain embarrassing.
Thanks,
-Alan
