Default So.....which rock sliders??

I am about to do some more mods to my 3, and rock sliders are one of them. I'm looking for input from the guys that have them and most importantly, USE them! I was interested in the Rocky Road's, but after researching online am not so sure. Then you have the OEM's, N Fab....who else?? It looks like a lot of wheelers like the Shockworks and MetalTechs, but they don't make them for the 3.

What are you using??

I have Rocky Roads and prefer them to the GM because they extend out beyond the body further.... great for pivoting off trees and rocks.

I bought mine a couple years ago, before there were Ridge Demon Rock Bashers, having seen them in action, and their first couple prototypes, if you want the best for the 3 and 3T, it's Rock Bashers. H3 Rock Bashers

Oem ones work fine and you can find them on fleabay for a good deal. Nice design but I couldn't justify 1150+shipping+powder coat for the RD's. You could buy the oem's sliders and winch/plate for that.

We have the Rocky Roads on both out H3 & H3T, YEP we have "USED" them many times. With a simple piece of 1/4" x 2 1/2" plate welded to the mounting legs to protect the pinch seam they are superior to the OEMs. Not only do the extended rails work great on trees and rocks as a pivot point they also save your doors from door dings due to the fact that they sick out.

If I needed to purchase a new set I would opt for the Ridge Demon Rock Basherz. The best of the best in my opinion. I have personally witnessed them come down on a boulder with the full force of an H3T and crack a piece of the boulder off and no damage to the "T".

Thank you guys for your time to respond. I did not plan on spending $1000+ for sliders, but am now considering it.

I wonder why RR, knowing that they have a design flaw, has not dealt with this issue to protect the "pinch seam"? Or maybe they still feel that their product is superior to most other fabricators to warrant a design change? Based on my research, this is the issue preventing me from going with their product over RD, as they appear to be similar in design.

For the owners using OEM sliders....do these protect the "pinch seam"?

I do really like the fact that the RD and RR stick out a little. This is excellent for protection and the fact that they will provide helpful to me in accessing my roof after the Gobi is installed. What to do, what to do.......?

Weld a strip of 1/4" plate to the bottom of the oems. RR does not give a crap about anything but money, They are well known on jeep forums for their lack of customer service among other things.
Maybe it's just me, but I've never come anywhere close to slamming a 3 ton vehicle on a boulder just for fun. I would just build a trail rig if I wanted to bash the snot out of something like that.

I have set #00001 of RD's H3T Rock Bashers and I can't say enough about how good a product these are & glad I have these on my T. IMO, these truly are the strongest & top-of-the-line sliders out there for the H3/H3T & the material selection and quality of construction is superior to even the OEM sliders. If you plan to wheel your H3/H3T then invest a little more in protection and you’ll save that & more at the body shop. Here's a pic of them in action in Moab.

The Terrain in Moab pretty much dictates that you need rocker protection, even more so if you have the longer wheel base of the H3T... Bigunit's purchase was obviously well thought out... He wheels there quite frequently, since it's practically his back yard...

I don't think he was trying to bash you or insinuate that you don't wheel Talus...

The "slamming" was for testing the rigiditiy of the Ridge Demon Bashers to see if they would deform or bend the mounting brackets. Because some HUMMER owners DO use theirs as trail rigs (and as daily drivers, we do!) and as they become more and more afordable they will be used as dedicated trail rigs.

Although, we have slid, slammed and bashed my Rocky Roads on rocks, stumps, downed trees, hard packed sand, etc. Sometimes it is a "necessary evil" just to complete a trail. No telling how much body damage ($) ours have saved in the long run.
