Side Steps / Nerf Bars - 2004 H2
I am thinking about replacing my side steps with Nerf Bars. Does anyone have any recommendations as to size: 3" or 4" or manufacturer?

That rust is on the factory rock rails. If you prefer nerf bars over the steps I'd go with factory ones but you still really want to either stop the rust on the rock sliders or replace those as well. You can find the factory nerf bars on eBay pretty regular as well as the rock slider rails. A big advantage to the factory ones are the bolt right up, no muss, no fuss. Also sent you an email...
The factory ones came in both black and polished stainless steel... the black ones will be far more likely to have some rust but not always. Will depend on where it came from. Here is a set of the stainless ones... https://www.ebay.com/itm/163137845017
The rock sliders seem to be less common to find and cost more. If it were me, I'd try to salvage the slider rails then just add the factory stainless nerf bars.

You have the ever increasingly rare U-steps. No way in hell would I replace those with nasty nerf bars! Take the sliders off, have them cleaned up and powdercoated, they'll be like new. Reinstall Us and everything will be good.I removed my giant chrome bars and installed Us years ago, there isn't a better look on the 2s.
Looking closer, the Us could use a new powdercoat also. However, those need to be chemically stripped or properly blasted with the correct media as they are aluminum. That's what I had done to the set I bought and they still look new to this day.

Great to hear, you'll be much happier keeping the U steps. Also, not sure if you are using the quick release ***** which the Us come with stock but take those off and install some grade 8 or higher bolts where that **** was with red loctite. There have been accounts of Us being stolen, especially since a full set can get well over $1k.
