Shock replacement, how hard?

i8ajeep....there should be no reason to recrank the torsion bars after new shock install. the rancho 9000xl is a great shock. I have them front and back. I had them on the hardest setting and it was still a great ride. only after i cranked my torsion bars did i drop the setting on them to the softest. but i did this cuz its my daily driver, once i go off road i'll change the setting back.

drewski....i paid around $80 a piece for them. not a bad price for an adjustable shock. go to partsgeek.com. they have good prices and cheap shipping.
Adjusting them is EASY. just a turn of the ****. it turns really easy, no tools needed but your fingers. there is a kit that rancho sells called MYRIDE. it uses a small air compressor to adjust the shocks. the kit gives you the compressor, remote ,air line and the fittings that replace the adjustment *****. I think its a waste of over $200.

New Rancho 9000XLs
Just bought Rancho 9000XLs for my H3...hoping to have time to put them on this weekend (although it is running about 100 degrees in my garage the past two days...114 outside).
I see where you have to twist them to extend the shaft out of the tube the first time. Once out can they be depressed by hand to get them where they need to be??
Can they be done with the wheels and tires on or is it best to take them off?
Finally...on the Ranchos...which direction do I turn the **** for soft vs. hard. No directions in the box. Also, I assume there is a better direction to have the **** pointed when installed (probably have two choices)??
Any help appreciated. The last time I changed shocks was on my 73 Opel GT.
