Hmer,
actually what I did was pushed the nut in from the other side.... closest to the trans.... and then when the link's pin went in it was all flush and recessed like stock.
All you see is the nylon nut flat part that you have on the right side of your cable setup on the left side (on the opposite side) and it kind of sandwiches the shifter cable in between the nut and the link.
Given, if it works this way for you then great. I was just saying what I happen to do and what has lasted me this long.

Glad it worked for you!!
And glad to help.
Plus now you can take that extra 25-30 bucks you were going to spend on that other part and buy a gallon or two of gas :-)

Throttle Fever,
The first one is the same think that the OP linked us to originally. Same product for the same outrageous price, and still the same crappy looking plastic looking piece.

The second on looks a little better BUT its still 10 bucks.
I dont know about you, but if I can get the same thing done for 35 cents.....

But hey thats me... not trying to push my solution, just saying that I always try to go with the best solution (especially for the money).

While watching the $10 bushing video I kept waiting for the guy to jam the screwdriver through his thumb.

This happened to me on day one.

I pushed the factory pin out of the tranny arm and replaced it with a bolt and lock nut. No issues since.

Tharber,
That is actually my perma-fix.
Just havent had to use it yet because the temp fix has been work well.
But yeah I bought a new shifter arm, cut the back side rivet off, push the pin out, then took a threaded bolt with enough length and pushed it through, then welded it in place, and it has washers in place to allow for pivot and movement and a lock nut in place so it wont back out.

Seems weird that something so simple that GM would have thought to do it that way from the beginning.
