LawWyfe thank you for the info. I'll go monday to the dealer and get a repair history. We did get a carfax report on it but I don't think they list things like that.

It is still under warranty. I have 18 months left on it. I will be getting that extended warranty plan asap.

So this is not a recall, it's just that GM knows adout it and handling it on a as needed basis?

GREAT!!!![]

Too bad there has to be issues with such a great ride. Does the Canyon pick-up with this eng suffer the same fate, or is it just Hummer related?

Thanks Again.....

No this is not a recall, but an issue that has reared it's ugly head far too many times and GM seems to make light of it somewhat. But yes, while under warranty (and then a purchased extended GMPP) it will be taken care of should it ever arise. Again, it should not be "assumed" that every 06 that falls within the year/vin range will have the problem arise. As for the Canyon, I really don't know. Honestly, I did not research it because I don't really care since I do not own a Canyon (yes, I realize the 3 is on the Canyon chassis.) Myinsight only comes from my experiences with MY H3 and the wealth of great knowledge I have obtained here since joining this forum. There are many many knowledgeable folks on here who could answer that and any other of your questions far better than I. Again Good luck, enjoy, and love her like most all of us do!

Welcome to the club everybody...

My 06 manufactured 10/05...rough idle then check engine light...then a new head.

Got my check engine light this Sat (9/15/07) and OnStar told me to get to the dealer ASAP. Called Monday, brought it in Tuesday (the light went off Monday) and the dealer said it needed the head replaced. Just waiting for the parts to come in. I'm drivin it now and no light.

Miles: 22900
Build date: 3/06

For what it's worth; If OnStar can read the Hummer error codes, there should be a way to pull them up on the vehicle display. I won't go through all the gory details, but I found a way on my Corvette (traded for H2), to read the trouble codes by pressing a sequence of buttons on the dash. It would cycle through EVERY trouble code, and even drill down detail. I don't remember the exact sequence, but the display had to be cycled through a certain category to the blank state, then you started pressing buttons. It seems you pressed something 5 times, then something else, then another. It was kind of like programming a key fob on another car (think it's the STS Caddy). You lock/unlock the doors a couple of times then start pressing buttons for it to enter the fob programming mode. Also, on my F150 there is a sequence of buttons you can press that will turn the seat belt warning "dinger" off. I remember it involving the door lock/unlock button and headlights off and on? I live on a ranch and when riding around in the pasture without a seat belt, this was annoying.

Awesome..resurrecting the dead!!

I wouldnt be suprised if that was true...I know of plenty of computers/equipment that if you press a sequence of buttons you get some special priveleges or info..

Now if we knew those secert buttons to press that would be awesome!!
