Default Service 4 wheel drive light on my cluster? 06 H2

For the second time I noticed a service 4 wheel drive light where my mpg, miles, etc light up...I have a 06 H2...anyone else ever have this issue? Techs I work with said it's either the 4x4buttons or a module in my transfer case...gotta scan it tomorrow. anyone else ever see this message?

I've only seen that particular warning on my H3---turns out I was driving all over the Las Vegas freeways with no brakelites!!
I took it in to the dealer to have it looked at and they jumped on it quick, apparently that was a known issue on that 06. Scared the hell outta me--man that could have ended bad.
Hope it's not a module or something else expensive sounding!

I'm gonna check my break lights in the am 4 sure... I'm hoping it's just the switch...whatever it is I'll get it fixed wholesale since I work at a dealership...Still sucks!

My H2 has done it a few times. It came on maybe 4 or 5 times in a week. I did some research and found that some have this problem after driving through a car wash. I dont know if it from water getting sprayed on something. But it has never came back on since so I didn't worry to much since everything still works just fine.
It's risky to drive around if something really is broke but I haave heard of sensors being stubborn quite often.

you should have it scanned. a shop can scan the transmission and the transfer there should be a code to help you point the problem out. i dont think an OBD2 can read these codes. the last one that came in the shop it was just the switch . but just have it scanned before you start putting parts on .

cycle through your 4x4 options. Go from 4 high to 4 low lock and make them work. It's a known issue. If you don't cycle them it will throw the message. Mine came on before and I just cycled everything and it was fine.

Jeff, sounds like a pretty complex problem. Your BCM would have a lot to do with every symptom your having though. You need to take it in to a trained tech and have it diagnosed.
