Default serv stab, traction failed, serv 4wd

I am new to forum and purchased a new '09 H3 a month ago. It has 1400 miles on it and i am getting the dreaded service codes. I saw some old threads regarding the codes, but was wondering if other owners of new H3's were getting them. I would have thought GM would have cured problem by now since this has been happening since '06. Also, anything I can do besides checking plugs and trying to cycle buttons. My dealer is 1.5 hours away from my home.

Well good news, it decided to cure itself. I will now routinely perform cycling of buttons.

What buttons are you cycling? I just started seeing same problem here. Gone when I depart driveway. Comes on after placing automatic transmission into reverse. Stays on till ignition off for extended period of time. 4wd light extinguishes.

From a post from Doc Olds a while back it was reported that cycling throught the 4wd buttons 50 times will clean contacts and may remedy the situation. If it does not fix the problem, make an appointment.

I had the same problem with my 06 H3. Its just pops up and goes away after a bit. I believe mine said Trac failed, ABS failed and Stab sys failed. Never happened while I was off road so I'm not sure if really effected anything.

Does anyone have a solid answer about this? Or is it something the GM dealer needs to handle?

Thanks in advance.

Default Service 4wd experience

I have had this happen one time on my '07. Highway driving, during a torrential rainstorm that lasted at least 1.5 hours (constantly driving through standing water on road at 45-55MPH+). When I exited highway, checked if 4wd was working on loose gravel road, it was but message was on. Cycled through 4Lo/4hi... no effect. looked under truck where elect plug is in tcase and all was dry 15-30 min after rain stopped. Next morning all was fine again. My theory, steam from all that water caused resistive issue at the plug and set a diag. fault.
