Default 'Scuse me for my rant...

OK, being an old school kinda guy I have yet to get used to this new "automotive technology". Specifically I'm referring to GM's Stabilitrack (the little switch to the right of the 4x4 buttons) I don't like it, I don't want it on and I should be able to keep it off all the time. Every day it's the same old thing. Start the truck, mash the StabTrak Button for 5 seconds and watch it flash all the way to where I'm going. Ya know, I'm a big boy and know how to drive. I don't need no stinking computer to steer for me by selectively mashing brakes in an emergency. Crap, if I were going to kill myself the Jeep CJ5 would have done it years ago, talk about a handful to drive...I wish there were a way to re-program my computer to keep that stinking StabTrak OFF! Grrrrrr

I'm done now, but don't feel much better. Any ideas or thoughts?

i would say you will have to live with the new technology thats comming out or get into restored older stuff. This is just the beginning of vehicles doing stuff for the drivers automatically.

Looks like it will be required in 2012. So either stay old school or get used to it, no real choice for us soon. As for me, I haven't had it intrude on any of my driving except offroad when wheeling and sliding in the sand.

Hey Buddy. You might want to ask the folks at PCMforLess if there is a way to turn it off by default as part of the PCM tune, IF you are interested in that or have had it done already. I don't know if that is a PCM function to turn it off, but it may be.

not 100% sure but I think the stabilitrac would be a BCM function, not a PCM.

Only had it kick in once and that was in a snow drift. I didn't care for it either.

That's why I love my 5-speed. They didn't even offer it as an option on a manual transmission until '07. I do wish, however, that I could keep the traction control off by default [:@]and the driving lights as well. I feel like I'm getting a plane ready for take-off half the time turning off all the crap.
