Scratching on Plastic Trim Under Doors
Welcome to all... I am new to the forum and have been checking things out for a week or so and learning a ton about my new H3. My question to everyone is the plastic piece under the doors running the length of the front and rear doors scratches and scuffs really easy on my H3. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem with theirs? It's not so much on my side because i can step right in, but others who get in must drag their heals and hit the plastic piece leaving a mark. no matter how hard i scrub, it won't come off. any suggestions on how to cover the scuff marks or is this a GM problem all around. armor-all might work to make less noticeable, but reluctant to use.

RE: Scratching on Plastic Trim Under Doors
Hi there and Welcome!
I know exactly what you're talking about and the fix, if you are willing to try these products...
First apply this "Forever Black" vinyl permanent dye (follow cleaning and prep instructions..Kit is complete with everthing you'll need..Search internet for best prices) This is especially good for off roaders that get their trim all scratched and bunged up.
Once the Forever Black has dried/cured and penetrated.
Then apply this Vinylex by Lexol every so often to maintain the nice scuffless looking finish..I use this on all my vinyls and plastics inside and out...Much better than Armor-all, as that contains silicones that will dry out vinyl and rubber eventually....(can be found at PepBoys auto parts)
Using these two products will keep all your vinyl trim looking like new.

[sm=thanx.gif][sm=smiley9.gif]..Think of me as the forum's Poster child of a what the H3 looked like on the Lot new..we need that representation just as much, as you guys and gals that take the H3 off road, proving the HUMMER's true off road abilities and character.
Kinda like the YING and YANG ...Both good!

Thanks Dennis. I was just looking at there products online. I think I will try a few of them. I went on another road trip this weekend and the truck is a mess. You would be totally ashamed of me, but Shortbus would be impressed.[]

Don't worry Dennis, they can bust ya about being "**** retentive" but I have to sheeplishly admit that we don't take the H3 off roading either...
In fact, we could probably eat off the floor of our Hummer and I bought the truck in November and it still smells like new!!! Brand spankin' new!
I park in parking spots where I am "safe" from the accidental cart ding...or the fool who doesn't care if the car door goes flying into yours, etc...
If I got one scratch on it, I would probably run and cry...(ha, ha) Well, could be exaggerating there, but well, (gulp) you know how it goes...
So, there must be a club out there like "AA" for us - - sort of like a 12 step help group for Hummer owners????
Anyway, research that Dennis and let me know if you find anything on it - - oh, and I can't be your sponsor because I too am an "ARHO" (**** Retentive Hummer Owner)
And, by the way, I have taken your advice and I "cooly" and "slowly" drive through those intersections - all the while saying, "OH, yah, I'm Bad, I'm Bad"...
Talk soon,
H3Gal
