Yesterday I had my first accident driving my H1. Around midnight an oncoming driver in a new Hyundai turned left in front of me... it was in the rain and I don't have ABS so I slid straight into him. To make a long story short, the other car absorbed all the energy and was totaled... the hood busted into the windshield, both front doors could barely open, etc. Meanwhile my hummer's damage is a scuff mark on one of the tow hooks, and the front license plate mounted above the winch fairlead is bent a little bit in one corner.

The problem is not only the fact that the H1 is cumbersome to drive around town especially as a first vehicle, but without airbags if your son hits a tree at 30+ mph he's probably going to get hurt. For that reason I'd recommend a Mercedes or any other heavy luxury car over the Hummer for ultimate safety.

I drove an h1 all winter when my car was in storage. My dad has a crew cab superduty with an 8 foot box. The h1 is like driving a sports car compared to that bus. While I would feel SAFIER hitting head on or getting rear ended, getting hit on the side imo would be game over. Being so close to the doors and no airbags would spell disaster. As for the person that got his h1 keyed at hs that sucks. I drove my car all year and hid it out in the farthest lot behind a friends truck and told nobody, same with the hummer. Never had problems with either vehicle. It justs funny how even if you tell a kid at school what you drive your a stuck up richboy thats why I told nobody. I dont get people dont they know there's always someone better than youself?

Default First Time driving to school

Hey Im driving my H1 to school tomorrow for the first time is there anyway to get people not to mess with it. Its my dads but i can use it until I get my own car. I dont want to drive it for only 1 day and come home and tell hime the tire has been slashed key'd or the typical HS prank.
Thanks, Blake

The only way to get people not to mess with it is not to drive it to school.

i will also say that h1 is a better vehicle to give than h2. and the important thing is that how your son drives his car the safety driving rules must be kept in his mind to give him a better pleasure of ride..
