I had rust like this all over my rear drivetrain. I had the Dealer do "UnderCoating" and RustProofing" when i bought my Rig so naturally I complained. They said this is NORMAL!!! NORMAL???

I cleaned it all up and sprayed it with Rustoleum. Looks better than it did NEW Only took 1 hour!!
Superb job, got to get under my Hummer!

I just found your member gallery, GREAT looking H2. Also, let us know what your dealer has to say about the undercoating.

I gotta get under mine too. All the salt the put on the roads in the winter here is not a good thing. Don't have much rust yet, but I know I will if I don't do something now

Can i ask how did u clean up the rust before you sprayed the undercoating? Did you get under there and scrub it w a solution or anything special, and what spray did u use, how long is thr dry time and do i need to be cautious for certain parts underneath?

Thanks

I grew up in Canada so I know ALL about undercoating. I don't even know where you'd get it done in Atlanta...heck, I don't think anybody here even knows what undercoating is. Back in the day it was my Dad's annual ritual.

I think undercoating is always a good idea. My current vehicle (Nissan Pathfinder...meh) has two rusted-out running boards. Not sure if undercoating would have prevented that, but it would have helped.

Mine was Undercoated when it was new back in 02. My undercarriage still looks brand new. Just likeYeeHaw's. If you touch it is got a tough wax feel to it.
