running hot?
Hello and thank you for looking...the guys are so helpful here.
I recently had my head replaced and the car is running great except the car is significantly hotter. It used to run about 1/3 to 1/2 on the dial and now it is running 1/2 to 2/3. What is your normal operating temperature? Could the new head do this? I think that maybe something like the fan clutch has gone bad, air in the system, wrong coolant used, temp sender bad, etc. etc. (No sign of a leaky head like loss of coolant on the ground or white smoke out the tail pipe.) Any feedback would be awesome!
I am going to take it in today and they are supposively going to check it by somehow measuring the temp. I just want to be able to spot BS.
Thanks!

Possibly a wrong or defective thermostat too (check your work order to see if a new one was installed with your recent head replacement).
If it tends to run hot just in traffic, a weak fan clutch would tend to be more likely.

thanks guys...it is running now consistently hotter, almost at the 2/3 mark, whether it is cold or hot outside. The dealer says thats normal but I still say it never ran before the work over 1/2. I think the thermostat is not opening wide enough or there is air in the system but they say no.

If you had the head replaced I am assuming that you have an 06. I have not heard of people having their trucks run hotter with the new head. Several possibilities have already been montioned. If there is air in the coolant system that was not bleed out that can be an issue, wrong coolant ratio, thermostat, etc.
I have an 08 Alpha and it consistently runs at 1/2 to 2/3 on the temperature guage and that is normal for the Alpha set up, particularly at low speeds.
