Default Roof mounted off road lights

I am debating grabbing a set of the OEM roof mounted off road lights. A couple questions for the group.

1. Are they worth it? Do they give you any significant light?
2. Are they hard to install?

Thanks

Save your money and get a set of dually and mount them on front end. Or go all out for the 40" led bar for the roof.

You may have seen this YouTube video. Talk about bright lights ?!?
Makes my STARR HID's seem weak, but then I don't drive in the out back, either.
I would like to know how he powers up this incredible system ?

Drilling holes in your roof just doesn't sound too good.
I am sure you can seal them, but does that mean you need to re-seal every so often ?
Just how long is every so often, when you see water stains on your head liner ?
My 2 cents

Depends on what you want them for.

They give plenty of light, if I was only getting one or the other I would go for the OEM grill lights, as they cast a better light for road use, and are great for lighting up the side of the road.

The roof lights are great as well, I love them, they are brilliant for off road light use, and I love the look of them, not keen on them for road use though, but they are called off road lights.

Easy to install if you are handy at doing stuff, takes about 4-5 hours all up, but if I had to do it again would only take about 2 hours I recon.

Here is my thread with some pictures:

Default Roof Lights

I have the genuine roof lights on my H3T. I would not recommend them.
Too much wind inside the vehicle with sun roof open.
Too much wind noise.
There is light glare on the windshield when you use them.

I tried to remove them but found there are holes drilled into the roof. Not crazy about that either.

What Arcaro said. The glare on the windshield glass makes them almost unusable and the wind noise is horrible with them.

Wind noise appears to be from incorrect installation, did not notice any noise after I fitted mine, glare can be a problem in certain circumstances, but lighting is still good, especially off road.

Also great for lighting up work area while doing recovery work or setting up camp at night etc I believe this is the main purpose of these lights - off road - especially considering how they are wired and how they operate, as they work independently of ignition and other lights.

No good for road/highway use IMO.

For highway use fit something like these instead (I will run both soon, just waiting for brush guard mounting brackets to arrive in the mail):

And all lit up, it's hard to get a good photo of the lights, this is the best I could do with a iphone camera:

Wind noise is terrible especially as they get older and your windshield replacements will require you to go back and reseal the bolt holes each time or expect a leak. I hate them and wish I could remove them.

Thanks, I think I will stick with lights on the brushguard. Aussie, where did you get those switches?
