rims and tires
I read a post a few pages back and people were saying how heavy XD monsters and nitto grapplers are. I dont care that they arent american made I just like the looks. Im going with 20" rims and 35" tires what are some lighter options. this wont be going off road much and when it doesnt it wont be ne thing serious jsut like that rough aggressive look.
thanks

I have Nitto trail grapplers (32" on 20" fuel hostile wheels) on my Silverado, I would not event think about putting them on a H3 unless you have an Alpha with some power.
They take a lot of power from the truck and it would probably take 2 days to reach 60 mph with them on the 5 cyl H3
I had Yokohama Geolandar tires on my 3.5 H3 and they worked very well, quiet and still some aggressive look.

I put 18 inch wheels with 35's on my H3
Not sure of weight difference of an 18 vs. a 20, any way you slice it it will be heavier than stock. I do have an Alpha and I do not see much in the way of performance loss. Get what you like it's your truck. I did the Black Rockstars. Send me an email I will send you a picture if you want.

Don't stress over the weight discrepancy between one rim and another, just find the one that looks right to you and throw down the cash. I doubt anyone ever regretted putting awesome wheels on their machine because they turned out to be a couple pounds heavier than some uglier ones... If it is a real concern, you would probably be better served looking for weight savings in your choice of rubber.

I would worry about the weight difference between rim sizes. You could go from a 16" rim to 20" and pretty easily gain 10 lbs of rotating mass not including the weight of the wheel. I thought about it before and an 18" rim seems like it would be a good compromise on Duratracs. Just a little bigger visually, still passable offroad if you take it easy and still fairly light.

Last year on H4O Hunner posted up that his stock rims weighed 20 lbs and the Hutchinson beadlocks weighed 42 when he upgraded and weighed them. I am not sure if he included the weight of the TPMS sensors with the wheel or not. In a 20" size, XD Monster wheel weighs 31.8 lbs, Rockstars weigh 33.8 and the Thump weighs 34.5 lbs. Thats a 50% increase in mass! ATX Crawl rims weigh 37.0 lbs and the Enkei Performance ETS is a heavyweight at 39.7 lbs. Are you sure you still want that much extra weight slowing your acceleration and braking?
