Retired Army Guys non HMMMV
All I can say is you know that Flex Seal as seen on TV maybe I should just use that to blacken out all of the overhead marker lights!
Parked it outside for a few days while I was resting from surgery. Went to get in it to drive and flooded floor boards.
Searched here and found out that it is typical.
What I found after inspecting was far worse. The rubber bushing surrounding the electrical wires to the corner markers have all shrunk over time and both of the front ones had fallen into the hole in the roof. They are about 1/4" smaller than the hole now.
So I am in the process of using marine components to put an end to the leak forever. When I am done it will never leak again, if it does I will use Flex Seal on the entire body. LOL
Anyway in my 25 years of service between the USMC and USA I love our HMMMV, a leak in the field no big deal however I would have expected a higher standard for the civilian model.
Its sad that we invented the car and after 100 years GM has not figured out that you don't need a 3/4" hole for a 1/16" wire and to not put it in a drain channel.
Besides that I still love the ride, will just have to make it mine.
Great site, found most of the info I needed so far.
