Default Reprogram Tire Sensors???

Bought chrome H3 takeoffs to replace the aluminum rims on my Adventure. The sensors from the aluminum rims are going into the chrome H3 takeoffs. Asked the wife to call the dealer too see how much it would cost if I had them do the switch. Dealer reply was for $210.[sm=WTFsgign.gif] when questioned why so much, the answer was they had to reprogram the sensors??? Is this just BS or what?
I have a feeling they were taking advantage of her because she's a woman.

I thnk I would agree with you on that. Since the TPM is standard on all of the H3's, if you are taking wheels off of another one, why would you need to reprogram them to go back on the same vehicle? If it is a frequency thing, why cant you use your old ones in the new wheels?

As long as you don't mix in the spare you shouldn't need to reprogram. And even if you do, the steps on how to do it are in the owner's manual. Its a PITA but you can do it yourself.

Even the spare tire has a tire sensor in it, they did that so you could use that in the mix when you rotate your tires, The steps in the manual arent necessary, i thought i had to do it when i had the tires rotated at 7500, but the hummer service manager, said it wasnt necessary because the system will reset itself after about 400 miles, i was skeptical but it did, almost right on the money, the sensor in each tire send a signal once every 60 seconds at speeds over 40mph, and once per hour at idle, hope this helps

Yes, the spare has a sensor, but AFAIK, it is not monitored. I rotated mine in when I got a flat and the SERV TPM message came on and stayed on until I swapped them back. And I drove well over 400 miles. Are you sure the dealer rotated in your spare? Usually they won't unless you tell them to.
