Default removing cargo area rubber piece

I searched around and can't find a thread I think I saw before about removing the rubber/plastic piece that is under the carpet in the cargo area and goes up the sides and under the rear seats. What I want to know is, in order to remove this black piece, do I need to remove the back seats? It seemed like I could get the whole piece out but it was hung up under the seats and I didn't want to just try to pull it out and break something.

I know when we had the back apart on gf's H3 the seats were pushed forward and we had to unbolt quite a bit to do the drain mod. At that point the base was removable I believe.
Idk. Jmho..

If you are only doing it for drain mod you dont need to remove that piece. What are you trying to hide new wiring for something underneath it or something? Wish I could help as I haven't removed it before.

"it was hung up under the seats and I didn't want to just try to pull it out and break something."

if you look under the seat bottoms you can see how the mat has holes for seat bolts, lots of bolts. pulling the back seat back out is really a 2-3 man job if you dont want to make a mess, scratch stuff. its VERY heavy, doesnt seem like it till you tryt to lift it. hard to handle with the hinges. i just pulled mine to get some space.

quotes? dont work 4 me

I'm just putting some sound deadener down so I'll lift it up as far as I can get it instead of pulling the seats out. I also have a leak at the top of the read door so the rubber piece needed to be flipped over to dry anyway. Now I'll need to figure the leak out and search about the drain mod since I've never heard of it. It's amazing how the mods never end! Thanks for the info.

Well if you have a sunroof you will more than likely want to search sunroof drain fix. If you haven't had any leaks yet, chances arduous eventually will. It is pretty simple to do really.

I actually had that problem and had the drain tubes replaced. I wish I would have known about another option before I had it done so I could have saved some money.

Yeah, between that and having to replace my radiator, it wasn't pretty. It was one of those things where it was pouring and in the middle of winter and since I have no garage and it's my daily driver, I had to pay the piper so to speak.
