Default Rear door alignment issue

Noticed my rear door was out of alignment on my brand new 08 H3.
Seems there is more space on the right than the left and an unusually large gap in the upper right between window and frame.
I looked at my buddys 07, and it was ok...it didnt have the problem.
Then I looked at a ladys 08 in my apt complex, and she had the same problem.
Went to dealership and noticed this problem on one out of 10 H3's there.
Saleman and service dept confirmed, I am not going crazy as they see it too...the left side is not rubbing, but they say its way to close on that side.
Might want to check yours....
Doesnt seem to let water in yet....or ever...but could damage left side of door if it rubs...
Bottom line its not correct...

I have an 08 H3 and just gave it the once over. It is all in alignment.
The door works great too. Never found any water in mine yet.

I hope you get yours adjusted. Let us know.

Cool.
Just heard from my saleman James.
The issue is the trim piece, its warped and a clip is broken.
They are replacing it.
I can't say enough good things about James and Beck and Masten, the Houston GMC, Pontiac, Buick and Hummer dealership I bought my H3 at.
He is the only salesman to not run back and forth to his manager like other salemen at other dealerships, he also met my financing, trade, and purchase price goals, and more importantly takes a "post sales" interest in his customer.
Most sale people I have experience do not do this.
So if you live in the Houston area, I would strongly suggest contacting him if you are in the market for any of the above vehicles.
They have a lot of COOL Hummers with after market rims, tires, racks etc on them....I was drooling over an H3T with a Tan interior and also an Alpha!
I think the Alpha logo is bad ***!

Question

I was waiting for someone to post about this. Just to be clear, are we talking about the back door?

My (2008) back door is too far to the right/passenger side (seems opposite of what has been mentioned). So much so that the weatherstripping rubs in the door jamb on the right/passenger side when the door opens and closes at the latch. I haven't taken it in yet for this, but will address it on my first service appointment.

Seems like a simple adjustment. Yet I'm surprised nobody noticed it before I took delivery.

I've attached an image of the door's fitness.

wow Tim, that is a close fit.
It almost looks as though there isn't enough room for an adjustment.
The gap you have on the left, I have on both sides of my door.
The rear door sits perfect in the opening with an even gap all the way around.

Tim, you need to take it in.
Although, my salesman felt the left was too close and the right too wide, the body shop guy did not want to adjust the door as it was not rubbing, and there is a tight seal.
That seems to be the acid test of whether to adjust or not.
The priority is whether or not it is sealing off rain and water, and/or rubbing or not.
Since, mine is sealing well and not rubbing they felt better not to mess with it, but if any of the above is occuring, then there is nothing to lose in the adjustment.
Also, the right trim piece above the light was warped and a clip broken.
There is a term in the auto industry for such gaps in doors etc. its called fit and finish.
Which is very poor on the exterior of the H3 it seems.

I drive an A4 as well as a Saab 9 3 and I look at the quality of ft and finish, and they are good, very good, and I've had other people comment on the product line, not my cars specific.
The H3 has equal fit and finish in my observation, and I marveled at that the first look at the H3 I was buying. I had my wife go over the car with a fine tooth comb, nothing gets by her.

When I read this post, I went out and looked at my back door, but I have an even space all around. The door gaps all around are even.

I did have an issue with the antenna though, it is the same as on all GM trucks, same antenna. It loosened up a few times, and I finally got out the vise grips and tightened it. The other attempts to baby it did not work, vise grips, a little cloth to protect the paint and tighten.

No rattles, no noises, and a smooth ride.
I thought the spare tire mount would start rattling, but nothing yet.

It has been a great car so far. It may be the very best that I have ever owned.
