Hey Brandie. One of our members and friends, HummerMike, told me on the phone a few days ago he's getting around 17 to 17.5 also in his '08 Alpha. That's really good considering I'm getting around 17 to 18 in my I-5 manual. When I had one for a few days though I was getting bad mileage, but mostly because the highway I was driving on has an average speed of around 80 (that's the slow lane) so the mileage was down the tubes.

That's great to hear though!

Yeah, I'm surprised at how well it does. I have not taken it on a long trip one way yet.....doing around 55mph. I bet I could get up to 19mpg then. My mpg's go way down if I do above 70mph on the highway, you can actually watch the gas go going down

Yup. In my experience at different speeds, the '06 H3 seems to get the best mileage between 55 and 65, but realistically, nobody around here drives that slow. If you do, you are blocking traffic, literally. Try driving down a highway at 60 in a bright red Hummer when everbody is doing 80 and see what kind of reactions you get It's free entertainment.

The speed limit up here is 65mph.....most people drive around 70...and then some do about 90. I hover around 70 and try to keep the gas in the tank...especially since it keeps going up[:@]

I'm getting 17.5 in my Base I5 automatic, going to and from work75% freeway. Standard 32" tires. After driving an H2 for 5 years, I am happy with 17.5. Getting that in the Alpha is super.

That's excellent gas mileage. I have the I-5 and just completed a 2,400 mile highway road trip. The vehicle had 2,200 miles on it at the start of the trip and I averaged 18.5mpg cruising between 70-80mph. Stopped calculating mileage halfway through the trip since it was so consistent. If I could've been sure of your mpg I might have rethought the Alpha.

I don't have GPS in the truck yet, but I put the same tires on that you have Alpha. And everytime that I pass one of those signs that post your speed, it is dead on. WTH?
According to my GPS, the Garman Nuvi 260, my speedo is off by 3 mph. It tells me what street to turn on “by name”, a very convenient feature and it runs on a re-chargeable battery.

SolarFlare,
How come you have 285/75R16's on your Alpha? Mine came with 265/75R16's.
