Ready to buy first hummer
I test drove some H2s today and I am ready to purchase. I have reservations because I am still young and this is a lot of money to put down, but I fell in love when they first came out. I do not know anybody who owns one and am wondering what some of the problems people have with them: little or big. I am temporarily up here in Rhode Island livingon a small island and am only planning onpulling a pair of jet skis. When I get back to California, I might be pulling something bigger.
Thanks,
Erica

It is white and has the luxury package. I like everything about it, but it is a 2003 and will only have a 90 day warrenty. I don't have family up here and don't know what to ask the dealer. I just really want this car. It only has 35000 miles and the asking price is 35000. I am sure I can get them down in price.

There really isn't any big problems to speak of. Do a carfax report to see if anything fishy happened to it.
Take it for a drive and make sure it runs andshifts ok and all the 4X4 options work.

I did drive it today and it does drive smooth.i thought it would feel like a bus. I did have trouble keeping itin the lane, but I am used to big trucks. I have a dodge ram. The leather seats were so plush and I am sure it will be a guy magnet. I will go back tomorrow and check out the 4x4 stuff, even though I never use it. I might join one of the local clubs to have some fun.As I have read through the posts, I think most of the issues happen when you all do off roading. I just hope that I can get adequate information on repairs that have been made. I will be buying it from the only Hummer dealer in RI and he said that the owner traded it in for a new one. I will deffinetly do a carfax.

As I said in a different thread I was in your exact situation 2 weeks ago. I also loved them from a distance. I was also worried about the size, I thought it would drive like a tank (I think it drives better than a minvan!).My wife and Iwalked into my local dealer and test drove it, yada yada yada, it's sitting in my driveway and I couldn't be happier! I've never been so happy with a vehicle purchase! To me it's like finally getting a Ferraari. And I'm sure you'll be just as happy.
But take your time with it and make sure you get the best deal for you! Good luck with whatever you decide! [sm=smiley20.gif]

There are ALOT of used H2's out there, so let the seller KNOW that YOU KNOW THIS. Should be able to get a couple of grand off EASY, then maybe for "piece of mind", take the extra $$$ and try and get an extended warranty. Also, find out from the seller what HAS BEEN FIXED under warranty, then at least you will know what possible problems have already been rectified!!
Good Luck and keep us posted!!

RE: Ready to buy first hummer
The dealer is Hurd Hummer in Johnston RI. Another issue I have is I live in historic Newport, RI which is on an island and very small streets. I think I made up my mind. I did check on Carfax and there did not seem to be any problems and only one other owner. It has no scratches and only two cigarette burns on the headliner (that sucks) and I think the price is good if I can get them down about 2000. Low miles. I think I might be buying me a Hummer today. I will let you all know.
