Default Radio is drawing amps when off

I've seen a few threads that seem to be on the same track as the issue i'm having but they always end up a bit different.

My wifes 2006 H3 has a 1.8 amp draw when the car is off. this causes the battery to eventually die and strand her and the 5 month old...not cool.

so like many others i pulled fuse #13 that powers the radio and the draw went down to .38 or so. thinking it might be the aftermarket USA SPEC ipod adapter i installed i unplugged that first...no change. then pulled the 24 pin plug and the draw dropped. So its the stereo.

must be a short in the stereo? don't want to buy a new radio if i'm missing something.

ideas??

Monsoon. at least it says that on the speakers. assuming that is the whole system. the truck is loaded with all options for the most part so pretty sure it has the upgraded monsoon system.

Yea. Theres a thread around here that discusses this. There is something going on with the monsoon amp circuitry.

If I rember correctly it is nearest the amp wiring in the back.

so the defect could be radio or amp or did the fuse/connection decide that?
id pull amp fuse to be sure

I looked, it looks like it has to be the radio head end.

I had this same problem in my wifes 06. It wound up being the CD player inside the radio that was running. I couldnt even hear it. The CD's were hung up in it and i couldnt get them out until i took the radio out. I took it out and put aftermarket one in and have had no trouble with that part of it anymore.

might be interesting to power up the radio and see if if all works right including the cd. then you would know if its the cd . right now you don't know if the cd is the problem. if a disk is stuck it might come out.
all kinds of things to try. wow this started a month ago huh?
